The Lama Temple

The lama temple is the largest lamasery abd one of the best-preserved lama temples at the present time in Beijing with a total of 66,400 square meters in area, 480 meters long from north to south abd 120 meters wide from east  to west. Lama temple is also  a well-known monastery of the Gelugpa, yellow sect of tibetan Buddhism in the mainland of china.It was listed as one of china's major national treasures under state protection in 1961.
